Irrigation Technician

Irrigation technicians maintain and service irrigation systems. Technicians perform regular system maintenance, including spring startup, controller programming and winterization. Technicians also retrofit older systems to improve water efficiency and reduce operating costs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular system maintenance, including starting up systems for use in warmer months; inspecting and repairing sprinkler heads, pipes and other components; programming recommended watering schedules; and winterizing systems to prevent damage during freezing weather.
  • Troubleshoot and repair irrigation components and systems, including sprinkler heads, pipes, pumps and controllers.
  • Retrofit older systems with newer technology to improve water efficiency and reduce operating costs.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • One year irrigation experience required; three years preferred.
  • Recommended certification(s): Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT), Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT), manufacturer certification, state landscape certification or irrigation license.

Compensation

  • $30,000 – $45,000*
