Standards & Best Practices

As part of our mission to promote efficient irrigation, the Irrigation Association partners with experts and stakeholders from industry, academia and the public sector to:

• Define best practices for effective water management.
• Establish benchmarks and guidelines for irrigation products and applications.
• Advocate water policies based on sound science.

The IA’s activities in this area include:

• Promoting landscape irrigation best management practices.
• Developing testing protocols for irrigation products through the Smart Water Application Technologies initiative.
• Providing input on new and existing green building codes.
• Participating in national and international standards development through the American National Standards Institute, American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, and International Organization for Standardization.
