Irrigation Auditor

Irrigation auditors evaluate whether installed irrigation systems are working as designed. They measure and analyze irrigation water use, identify components that need repair or replacement, and recommend a watering schedule. Auditors also identify opportunities to improve water-use efficiency and reduce costs to operate the system.

Responsibilities

• Collect data on-site and determine irrigation uniformity and efficiency.
• Document system problems, including missing or broken sprinklers, clogged drip tape, leaking seals and fittings, and other malfunctions.
• Make maintenance recommendations and perform minor repairs to keep the irrigation system working reliably and cost effectively.
• Develop recommended irrigation schedules based on water requirements and site’s unique conditions.
• Estimate potential dollar and water savings from implementing innovative irrigation technologies, products and practices.
• Work with irrigation manager, dealer/distributor and/or on-farm maintenance personnel to make recommended repairs and implement solutions.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma/GED required; two-year associate degree preferred.
• Two to three years agriculture irrigation installation experience required.
• Recommended certification: Certified Agricultural Irrigation Specialist (CAIS).

Compensation

• $40,000 – $60,000*
