Register for Exams

The IA offers two methods of taking certification exams: computer-based exams at testing centers across North America, as well as paper-and-pencil exams at a select number of events.

Computer-Based Testing

Reduce time out of the office by taking the exam on your schedule at a location near you. IA certification exams are offered at hundreds of testing centers across North America and internationally throughout the year. Certification candidates select the exam date, time and location that works best for them and receive preliminary results immediately after completing the exam.

Registering for a computer-based test is a two-step process that begins with submitting an exam registration.

Once your registration is approved, the certification department will confirm your enrollment to the certification program and exam registration via email. You will receive another email with instructions to activate your test taker credential to schedule the exam.

KTN testing centers, that were closed temporarily due to COVID-19, have begun to reopen with reduced capacity or testing schedules in order to comply with local, state and national health guidelines. A list of currently open centers can be found on the test-center-locator page, keeping in mind that the return to full testing will be gradual. You can find a daily, updated list of closed test centers here.

Paper-and-Pencil Testing

Paper-and-pencil certification exams are offered annually at the Irrigation Show and Education Week. They may also be offered throughout the year.

  • Register online or download and submit the registration form for a paper-and-pencil test for the following exam dates and locations:
    • 2022 Exam Sessions
      • May 12: Colorado Springs, Colorado
      • May 12: Fort Collins, Colorado

Once your registration is approved, you will receive an email confirmation from the certification department confirming your enrollment to the certification program and exam registration. Be sure to print the confirmation email and take it with you to the testing center on the day of the exam.
