Marketing Resources
Reducing outdoor water use has become a top priority in communities across North America. Whether driven by drought, population growth or crumbling infrastructure, many water providers are struggling to balance static supplies against increasing demand. At the same time, as much as half of water used for landscape irrigation is lost or wasted due to improper irrigation system design, installation and maintenance.
As part of its efforts to promote outdoor irrigation efficiency and water conservation, Smart Water Application Technologies partners with water purveyors to introduce SWAT, and promote a consistent “brand” and creative approach to educate the public.
A variety of customizable flyers have been developed to help agencies launch their own “smart” water initiatives. Rather than investing time and resources in creating these materials from scratch, water purveyors can focus their attention on developing the rebates and other incentives that are critical to ensure market acceptance.
Getting Started
Before launching your “smart” irrigation initiative, maximize your success with these three steps:
- Plan ahead: Work with SWAT to develop a marketing plan tailored to the needs of your specific region, budget, etc. Contact the SWAT Promotion Working Group Chair for more information and assistance in getting started.
- Network: Establish relationships with local influencers in your community, including landscaper organizations, local environmental groups, garden centers, civic associations, etc., to enhance program credibility and expand reach.
- Provide motivation: Develop a compelling incentive program (e.g., rebates) to attract interest and grow demand.
